Build it for speed.

It’s a fact of modern life – people are in a hurry. Nowhere is that more true than on the Internet. Its seems that no matter how much the technology improves, nothing is ever fast enough. In fact, several studies indicate that the faster technology advances, the faster people expect things to be.
So what does this mean for your Website design? It means that you have between 10 and 30 seconds to capture your potential customers attention. It they cannot at least begin to read about your products in that much time, they will be clicking elsewhere.
To minimize your load time, keep graphics small. Compress them where possible. Use flashy technology (JavaScript, Flash, Streaming Audio/Video Animation) sparingly and only if it is important to your presentation.

Target your market

Make sure you Know who your customers are, and make certain that the content for the Website caters for their needs. Your content must be focused on the goal of selling your products or services. i.e. If your product is aimed mostly teenagers and young adults, then your site could be more informal and relaxed.
